My name is Gemma. I tutor maths, biology, and chemistry for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I also tutor A Level biology, and A Level maths — both the step up from GCSE and the full first-year course.
My qualifications:
I have over fifteen years of teaching and tutoring experience, including seven years of private tutoring in the UK. Before that, I taught first-year biology at the University of Mississippi, worked in cancer research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and spent three years in the pharmaceutical industry. In every role I've had, teaching was always my favourite part.
Most students see a clear difference within a couple of terms, and the earlier we start the bigger the impact — working with a student from Year 9 through to their GCSEs can transform their result.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and am registered with the DBS Update Service, so it's kept continuously up to date. I'm very happy to show you the certificate on request.
I'm based in Soham, Cambridgeshire, and I work with students from Bottisham Village College, Ely College, Soham Village College, Witchford Village College, and surrounding schools.
Most sessions are in person at my home in Soham. I teach students from across the area, including:
Aldreth · Barway · Beck Row · Bottisham · Burwell · Cheveley · Chippenham · Coveney · Dullingham · Ely · Exning · Fordham · Freckenham · Haddenham · Isleham · Kennett · Little Thetford · Littleport · Lode · Mepal · Mildenhall · Newmarket · Prickwillow · Queen Adelaide · Reach · Snailwell · Soham · Stetchworth · Stretham · Sutton · Swaffham Bulbeck · Swaffham Prior · Upware · Wentworth · West Row · Wicken · Wilburton · Witchford · Woodditton · Worlington

I'd love to hear from you. Whether you're looking for regular term-time sessions or help with exam preparation, drop me a line and we can chat about what would work best for your child. I'm also happy to offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute consultation in person if you'd find it useful — no pressure either way.
