About Me
My name is Gemma. I tutor maths, biology, and chemistry for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I also tutor A Level biology, and A Level maths — both the step up from GCSE and the full first-year course.
My qualifications:
- Master of Science in Biological Sciences (University of Mississippi)
- Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Biochemistry (Bucknell University)
- Associate of Science in Biotechnology, Biomanufacturing, and Molecular Techniques (Montgomery County Community College)
I have over fifteen years of teaching and tutoring experience, including seven years of private tutoring in the UK. Before that, I taught first-year biology at the University of Mississippi, worked in cancer research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and spent three years in the pharmaceutical industry. In every role I've had, teaching was always my favourite part.
Most students see a clear difference within a couple of terms, and the earlier we start the bigger the impact — working with a student from Year 9 through to their GCSEs can transform their result.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and am registered with the DBS Update Service, so it's kept continuously up to date. I'm very happy to show you the certificate on request.
